A fashion film shot inside Palazzo Manganelli, a historic residence in the centre of Catania.
The third chapter in the series produced for Harim, Accademia Euromediterranea in Catania, built around student designs using YKK zips.
The film was shot entirely inside Palazzo Manganelli, a historic residence in central Catania and one of the city’s noble houses still in private hands. It is the first chapter in the series to give up the outdoors altogether.
Shooting in a single enclosed location is harder than it looks. Outdoors the landscape changes by itself and hands you variety for free; inside a palace variety has to be built — moving room to room, changing height, changing the direction of the light — or after thirty seconds every shot starts to look the same.
What the interiors give in return is something no natural location can: stucco, mirrors, polished floors and tall windows. Daylight coming through the rooms bounces off those surfaces and sets the tone of every frame, and the decoration provides a geometry against which the lines of a garment read clearly.
The other chapters in the series are YKK 2016, YKK 2018 and YKK 2021.
