Tomorrow (short movie)

A one-minute short shot in the Catania underground, with Giulia Fraticelli in the lead. It began as an idea by Antonio Ciravolo, the same writer behind Smiley and La Vigilia.

It is about a rebirth: the moment you begin to exist again, and the discovery that beginning again happens through another person’s eyes. The tone is not dramatic but relieved — air coming back, hands starting to feel again — and the film chooses to stay with the waking rather than with whatever made it necessary.

Sixty seconds is the length of a commercial, not the length you would reach for to tell a story. The constraint changes how you write: there is no room to introduce a character and then test them, the two have to happen at once. You work by subtraction — what goes unsaid has to stay readable in what is seen.

The underground is the right place for a story like this. It is a space of transit, where nobody stays: people are there in order to be somewhere else, and the time spent there is already a kind of waiting. A platform, an arriving train, one person standing still while everything else moves. Setting a rebirth in a place that exists only to take you elsewhere is an image that holds on its own, and needs no explaining.
